Important Service Update: Route Changes from January 26 to April 17

The Island's Buses is committed to keeping passengers moving safely and reliably across the Isle of Wight. Due to a one-way traffic management system being put in place between Cowes and Newport, starting Monday, January 26, and running until Friday, April 17, we are making temporary changes to several routes.

Why These Changes Are Needed

The road was closed in mid-2025, causing major daily disruptions to our network. This time, we're introducing a system designed to minimise disruption while keeping services running as safely as possible.

What's Changing

Route Changes
Routes 1A & 1B Buses will be diverted from St Mary's Junction via Forest Road, Whitehouse Road, Rolls Hill, and Pallance Lane before returning to the normal route. This will operate in both directions.

All services will operate via Round House and run as Route 1 during this period.

• For access to St Mary's Hospital, please use Route 1D
• For access to Northwood and Park & Ride, please use Route 1C
Route 1C This shuttle connects Cowes, Park & Ride, and Northwood in a loop. It will follow the normal Route 1 until Noke Common, then continue down Noke Common to Cowes Road, operating as a standard 1B service back to Cowes.
Route 1D This shuttle connects Newport with St Mary's Hospital and Parkhurst. It will follow Route 1 up to St Mary's Hospital, turn around, and return to Newport.
Route N1 Will follow the daytime diversion between Newport and Cowes via Round House in both directions.

NO Overnight service to Northwood and Park & Ride.
Routes 51 & 57 Will follow the daytime diversion between Newport and Cowes. No other changes will apply.

Plan Your Journey

We understand these changes may be confusing at first, but they are the safest way to maintain reliable service during the closure. Please plan your journeys carefully and allow extra time where needed.

"We know road closures can be frustrating, so we've worked hard to create a diversion system that keeps services running safely. We encourage all passengers to check the new routes and allow a little extra time for travel during this period."
